Lilah Takes a Walk

I took my first walk today after getting my bath. Auntie Margie said I could air dry the rest of me while walking. It was sprinkling lightly off & on and we didnt really see any one. One guy biked past us and a couple walking their dog turned off a block before we got to them. I was sad because I wanted to meet their dog. Auntie Margie commented that my tail still hangs down so I'm not entirely comfortable in my surroundings yet. I stayed out in front most of the time. We made a few stops at some bushes so I could sniff. I like to walk in the middle of the street because Auntie Margie thinks I'm afraid of the big curb drains. She said it isn't safe to walk in the middle of the street though. I had a long full day today. I got a bath and a walk. Thanks Auntie Margie. See pictures of me walking below.

Ok so it wasn't the bath I was expecting but Auntie Margie has had enough with my stinky self so she gave me a quick bath. I did pretty good and only shook half the time while I was getting bathed. I even let Auntie Margie use the dryer on me too. And all those loud yappy dogs that share kennels close to me were all of a sudden *silent* during all this. They probably thought Auntie Margie was going to give them a bath too! Auntie Margie only dried me a little bit and she thought I could air dry for a bit. I do smell and look a little better now. While Auntie Margie was cleaning up the bath mess, I wandered off to the laundry room and found me a cozy area to take a short nap in ;) See my pictures below.

She's doing good so far so she may get to come out of ISO fairly quickly. She's healing from her spay, needs a good fluff and puff, and some TLC.

So we arrive to my new home, Houston. I'm at Auntie's Margie's vet where I'm going to hang out in ISO for a little bit and get checked out. It was a long day today. I had finally passed out in Auntie Margie's truck on way here, I was so tired.

I don't know if I like car rides yet; they kind of freak me out. New things really scare me still so I did some exploring at the clinic inside and out so I can get to know the place. See pics here.

I'm a little underweight and somewhere around 5 yoa? I have mats all over me. My coat is sunburned and I've got lots of flea dirt. Yuck. I need a bath really bad.

Houston Bound

Meet Lilah!

Ms. Debbie got the "go-ahead" to come get me! My pup went to adoptions and got adopted so that just left me but I wasn't sent to adoptions :( Ms. Debbie and Mr. Sandy showed up Saturday early to get me. I did a happy dance for Ms. Debbie when I got outside. I was still scared though and was shirvering. They had a hard time getting me in the car too. I was scared it was another animal control vehicle! I was going to Houston so they were meeting Auntie Margie, another Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue volunteer half way. Ms. Debbie named me "Lilah" after a particular volunteer that was working hard too to help rescue me, Ms. Delilah and I get to meet her soon since she lives in Houston.

A Bad Day

After all the work that Ms. Debbie and Ms. Delilah did in lining up ISO space and putting out a plea for fosters; Ms. Debbie received an email that me and my pup were picked up and taken to another facility! Worse is they separated me from my baby and now I'm sad and scared. I don't know what's going to happen to me. I heard through the grapevine that my pup went to adoptions and they put in a place where I may not make it out now. They're saying I'm acting skittish and barking at kennel workers. These folks are scary here and I don't know what's going to happen to me.

Ms. Debbie was frantic and started making phone calls to try to get me and my pup out. But this place doesn't give dogs to rescues; they only adopt out or you have to make special arrangements with some people. So Ms. Debbie had to fill out an application and is getting a home visit done on her.

Yep, I was #150539. Picked up as a stray and at the Collin County Humane Society. They sent an email to Ms. Debbie of the Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue that I was here with possibly my pup. You can see her a little in the picture. Yeah I know I look like a pup myself actually. The shelter lady said we were a very sweet duo, and we had to be two of the most beautiful dogs she has ever seen. She said we were very friendly and I gave her lots of kisses when she would come visit me. But we were short on time. Ms. Debbie sent out an email to the rest of the Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue to tell them about me and my pup. Ms. Debbie and Ms. Delilah of Houston started my rescue plan right away because they had to save me and my pup! They had to find us Isolation space for 10 days and foster spot safter that we could go to. Because we were short on time; they were worried about us and were frantically trying to line up what to do and when. Thank Dog for these two ladies!
